In between trips, outings and weekends away on my Year in Review travel list, in the past week or so, I came across some very fun and interesting things to do. It’s not exactly a ‘week in review’ – but I thought I’d share this list with you and hope you’ll add some of your own discoveries.
For your creative and possibly entrepreneurial self - Etsy is a website where you can post and sell your creative projects, handmade items and vintage creations.
More for your creative self – I so wish I found this site sooner. It’s no longer accepting submissions, and the site is crummy looking – but it’s inspiring and fun to see other people’s entries to the creative contests. Like Assignment #39, Take a picture of your parents kissing. How sweet is that? Just reading about the contests gets the creative juices flowing. The complete we archive is now part of San Francisco Museum of Modern Art’s permanent collection.
For your drinking pleasure – The Honest Pint Project is committed to find the pubs that pour the ‘honest’ 16 ounce glass as opposed to the ones that pour a ‘soft’ 14 ounce one. Jeff Allworth’s blog has updates on Portland (and beyond) beer events, lists and lists of other beer blogs (who knew there were so many) posts on lesser known small beer and brewery reviews and the best pub crawls to go on while in Portland, OR. It’s all here at Beervana.
For your adventurous self, ladies only – I just want one of these trailers to drive, decorate and camp in. I’ll pass on the fishing expeditions, which eliminates me from becoming a Sisters on the Fly.
For your business self – I’m going to use Animoto, free short video software, for business – but it can be used to create fun videos, birthday cards or photo albums. Create short (30 second) videos for FREE, or upgrade to longer length for $30 per year.
For your reading pleasure – A story I read and enjoyed in the New Yorker magazine. What a brush with death taught David Eagleman about the mysteries of time and the brain.
Any juicy items you’ve come across recently?
